Monday morning of Labor Day weekend we woke up to a carport full of soaking wet camping stuff to deal with, but Jeff called to see if we wanted to go to Carnero Lake with them. All Rusty needed to hear was "fishing' and "kayaks" and we knew the camping stuff would wait!
While the boys floated around the lake, Rachell and I and my kids walked about half way around to a fishing spot. It got pretty windy and the kids were hungry, so we decided to walk back to the cars. Sam & DJ left before us, and we decided to take the little boys and walk the rest of the way around the lake because it didn't look very far. WRONG!! As we walked, we realized that what we thought was dry land was really a swampy part of the lake and we had a LONG way to go with two whiny little boys!! Rusty & Jeff were able to paddle over and pick the kids up, but Rachell and I kept walking. . .and walking. . .and walking. . .and laughing at ourselves. . .until we finally found a place where the water was shallow and we could cut across on some really slippery rocks. Good times!
