9/15 - 9/21

M: FHE
T: subbed intermediate school PE
W: soccer practice & "fun fest" (see below). Short presidency meeting to try and work out some bugs in our Primary program.
T: Smallville season premiere- yea!! Green Arrow plus no Lana Lang equals a good smallville to me!!
F: One of Matthew's burning questions was answered today. This summer we were on a walk and he dropped a candy wrapper. I asked him to pick it up and not litter. He said, "If I litter will I get sent to 'juvie'? [The older kids had been scaring Matt with threats of getting sent to juvenile detention if he didn't act right] I just laughed and then he asked, "Do they serve macaroni in juvie?" I told him that they only serve baloney sandwiches.

Well today I found out differently. I had volunteered to sub for the alternative school at the junior high (my main thought being that they get out of school earlier than everyone else, so I would get home before the kids). When I signed in, the secretary says, "I hope you got a good night's sleep last night!!". Lucky for me the class's really good teacher's aide was there, because the teacher didn't leave one scrap of lesson plans. I just love that!! Unlucky for me, she informs me that starting that week, they don't get out early anymore. Anyway, the kids came in, a bunch of really rough kids. Kids that probably haven't ever had much stability and are VERY knowledgeable about the "things of the world". However, they were all really knowledgeable about "juvie" and let me know that macaroni is indeed served there!! "juvie" must not be too bad of a place because most of them had spent quite a bit of time there :-) The day turned out fine- but very challenging-- and I'll probably be crazy enough to sub there again. The mother in me will always worry about those kids.

S: My 35th birthday. I thought I would wake up the day after and be perfect, but it didn't happen :-) Maybe next year!
