Ok, this looks like a man in a dress, but it is really a picture of the real Dottie from that movie, A League of Their Own, which I've been wanting to watch lately. The World Series has me in a baseball mood, I guess!
These are my random thoughts about what we've been up to for the last MONTH that I haven't kept up with my blog. This is written just for me and my very bad memory, but you're welcome to read along!
Since October 1 I have subbed for the preschool , 4th grade, middle school band, 2 days of 1st grade, Pre-1st, 2 days of 3rd grade, computers, and I've done two days of child find, which is our district's preschool screening.
I've taken Nathan to the doctor for a well check, where he got his shots for kindergarten-- which will be here before we know it. We've talked a lot the last few weeks about how very soon we won't have any "little kids" anymore. We make ourselves feel better about that by spoiling Nathan and letting him have his way :-) Rusty took Matt to the doctor for strep throat, and I was lucky to have a lunch break and be able to run down to the appointment for a couple minutes so I didn't have to suffer too much working mother guilt. And just last Saturday I got to visit the ER myself for what has turned out to be a really, really bad case of pink-eye. If you're going to get some yucky school sickness, better pink eye than head lice anyday!! Also took 5 kids to the dentist, and thankfully none of them have any cavities (yea for my nazi tooth brushing habits!)
I've been to 4 parent teacher conferences (visiting with each of S & K's 6 teachers, so do I count that as 12 parent conferences?) and the kids are doing great.
I went to a really, um, interesting candle party. Thanks, Marci, for the funny memories!!
My two little boys said things that made me laugh: "Santa Claus is definitely going to the celestial kingdom!" (matt) and "mom, sometimes you are nice and sometimes you are mean." "oh, really, when am I mean?" "mmmm.. on Tuesdays." (nathan)
I've been to two football games. I've chauffered kids to jazz band, piano lessons, cub scouts, boy scouts, play practice, school, and friends' houses. In RS Enrichment, I've learned to make frozen apple pie filling and frozen breakfast burritos. I loved sitting around a table with a bunch of really great women while we peeled apples.
My wonderful visiting teachers have been to see me, and I've visited 2 of my 3 (the month is not over yet!!). I love it when the people you visit become your friends. I've had a PPI with my Bishop and been to ward council, and talked to lots of my Primary kids at school (one of the best parts of my job). I think we had one presidency meeting. We served sundaes to 30 or so kids for our sharing time about the Sabbath. Today I had to say goodbye to my wonderful friend and Primary chorister. I want to be more like Adriane Ragan. We're going to miss her & Justin like crazy.
I've started making bread, partly out of my working mother guilt. I'm trying to be better at NOT buying stuff at the store that I can make at home. I'm trying to stock up on little things here and there.
I did about a gazillion loads of laundry. A few were lucky enough to get put away.
I let my little baby boy go to Utah with my mom and dad. He had a blast and loved playing with Boston. s Our house was very quiet! My mom's car was NOT- she said he talked all 12 hours there and back. He went on a little question asking spree: why this, and why that, and finally he asked, "why do we say why?"
Rusty got to be part of a bomb threat evacuation in Albuquerque, and he's spent some great days fishing with Mark. Someday Suzanne and I are going to run away and leave Mark & Rusty with all the kids. Anyone else want to come?!
I e-mailed my senators and representatives for the 1st time in my life over that whole dumb bailout thing. I've been too worked up over politics. I think Obama is an evil man, but I'm not especially fond of John McCain, either. I'm having Glenn Beck withdrawals since he's not on TV anymore:-) I'm trying to learn more about the constitution and what being an American really means.
Life is good. We're so blessed. We want to be more obedient and worthy of those blessings.

I love you, my sweet busy mommy daughter and admire you so much. Love mom
You live such a great life!
So basically, you just sat around and ate bon bons all month!!
I emailed all of our congressmen over the bailout and am having Glenn Beck withdrawals myself. Why did they kick him off anyway? It sounds like your life is A LOT like mine! :)
wow Amie email senetors I am impressed. I am worried about the election too. What is the good ol US of A going to be like with Obama at its head. All I know is that we have to prepare...but don't worry my inlaws have enough wheat for the entire town!!! Maybe we can have a little 'republican party' on the night of the election to see how things turn out.
