Before Russ left for work yesterday morning, we were talking about how fire season was pretty much over (before it even started!)- then this comes up:
(June 24, 2008 – 10:05 a.m.) U.S. Highway 191 has been closed from Blue Vista to Rose Peak until further notice for public safety due to the Hot Air Wildfire. All motorists are recommended to take an alternate route via State Highway 78 through New Mexico.
The Hot Air Fire is located west of Sheep Saddle and Rose Peak on Highway 191 and has currently burned about 2,000 acres. This fire is active on both sides of Highway 191 at this time with firefighters working on containment.
Forest visitors are encouraged to contact the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests Clifton Ranger District for more information at (928) 687-1301.
He'll be there doing some training, but hopefully home soon!
